
In a ceremony at Novi High School, English and Journalism teacher, Lydia Cadena was named Novi Community Schools' "Teacher of the Year."
As an added bonus to this high honor, The Suburban Collection presented Cadena with a free, one-year lease on a vehicle.
Cadena has been teaching at Novi High School since 1996. She is dedicated to teaching and helping her students grow.
Fellow teachers, coworkers, parents and students nominated Cadena for this recognition due to her professionalism, compassion and dedication to her students and her career.
Donna Roemer, a colleague of Cadena wrote "Lydia Cadena is the most outstanding and inspiring teacher I have known in my 33 years as an educator at Novi High School. I continue to be amazed by her energy, enthusiasm and dedication."
Carol Diglio, principal at Novi High School, notes that "Her dedication, passion, enthusiasm and motivation are contagious. She has an energy that inspires students to be the best that they can be and she is well respected in our school community."
Cadena's dedication is not unnoticed by her students. A former student said, "Lydia Cadena is so much more than a teacher. She is a source of inspiration, infinite wisdom and endless positivity".
Another of Cadena's colleague's wrote "Lydia Cadena gives an incredible amount of her life to her students. Her hours are long and hard, regularly extending into the weekend and into the summer. Her students recognize her dedication to their learning."
A parent wrote "Ms. Cadena was a wonderful role model for my daughter. Her devotion to her students was evident every day. She was enthusiastic and extremely supportive of everything her students wanted to try. I am very appreciative of the many hours that Lydia Cadena spent in preparing my daughter for life beyond high school." For the ninth year, The Suburban Collection is rewarding Novi's top teacher with a free one-year lease on a vehicle.
