Over 125 employees of the Suburban Collection volunteered their time on October 15, 2001, and walked in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, five mile walk at Belle Isle. The Suburban Collection showed their commitment to the event by becoming a Gold sponsor of the event.

In the preceding weeks, the employees managed to collect over $25,000 in donations for Breast Cancer research. The Suburban Collection employee group exceeded their stated goal by more than 70% in donations.

David Fischer Jr., General Manager for the Suburban Collection had this to say about the event and the Suburban Collection employees who participated: "All of us have been impacted by cancer in various ways and the folks that helped to make this happen should be commended.".

Showing their support and gratification for a job well-done, the Suburban Collection company decided to match the $25,000 donation, raising the total donation to over $50,000 in support of this cause.

Mark Clemens, General Manager at the Suburban Collection expressed his gratitude in this company email: "On behalf of everyone in the Collection who has been touched indirectly or directly by cancer, we extend our sincere appreciation to all Suburban Team Members who contributed to his important cause. 
For those who walked in the wind and cold on Saturday morning, a very special thank you."

  Christina Tomasino was the Team Leader for the employee group from the Suburban Imports of Troy, which raised almost $3,000 by themselves. Tomasino says "I was very inspired with the spirit of the team and the many smiles I saw all day long, in spite of the horrible weather we had. The team wasn't fazed by the elements and came together for a great cause!".

The Suburban Collection has been involved with the Making Strides for Breast Cancer for many years and is proud to be associated with a wonderful organization that supports this important cause.
