Thursday, September 12, 2013 - Shimmer on the River - Cobo Center Grand Ballroom, One Washington Boulevard, Detroit, MI
The non-profit Detroit RiverFront Conservancy was formed in 2003 with the mission of bringing public access to Detroit's Riverfront and serving as a catalyst for economic development in the city. The ultimate vision is to develop five and a half miles of riverfront from the Ambassador Bridge to just east of the MacArthur (Belle Isle) Bridge.
Thanks to the strength of our public/private partnership, the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy celebrates the successful completion of three miles of development on the east Riverfront, including pavilions, plazas, parks and green space, all connected by the ever popular RiverWalk. Already it is becoming an extension of Detroiters' backyards and a not-to-be-missed destination for visitors.

Saturday, September 28, 2013 - Cattle Baron's Ball - Cobo Hall Grand Ballroom, One Washington Boulevard, Detroit, MI
For nearly a century, the American Cancer Society has fought for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. By using what we've learned through research and turning it into what we do, we have contributed to a 15 percent decrease in the overall cancer death rate between the early 1990s and 2005. That means that we helped avoid about 650,000 cancer deaths and created the potential for more birthday celebrations. Overall, 11 million cancer survivors in America will celebrate a birthday this year.
